About K.S. Octave

Kedeem
Founder

Kedeem began as Director of Baseball Operations at Army West Point, where he streamlined team operations and played a key role in the program’s success. He then joined the Minnesota Twins, contributing to video and data analysis efforts that leveraged analytics to enhance player performance.

Octave’s career took an international turn with the New York Mets, where he worked in the Dominican Republic at the team’s academy. There, he worked in hitting development and supported international scouting, becoming a valuable asset in identifying and nurturing talent across diverse environments.

As a hitting coach in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, Kedeem spent several years integrating advanced technology with on-field coaching, helping players refine their skills and reach their full potential.

Currently, Kedeem works in the Commissioner’s Office at Major League Baseball, focusing on shaping the future of the game while also being hands-on with the KS Octave Foundation.

Afterward, Stephen went on to play professional baseball for the Ottawa Champions as well as spending time playing overseas. He has also spent time as the Assistant Coach for Nyack College. After coaching, Stephen spent time working for Major League Baseball in the replay operations center.

Hayley
Director of Operations

Meet Hayley, the driving force behind the operations at KS Octave Foundation, where community impact and financial stewardship converge. Originally from Wisconsin, Hayley earned her BS in Interior Architecture from University of Wisconsin – Madison before embarking on a professional journey that took her from top-tier hospitality design firms in Atlanta to co-founding a boutique procurement agency in 2018.

Hayley made the move to New York City in 2019, where she continued to evolve her business in design, project management, and procurement. She applies her expertise from these sectors to manage the foundation’s finances, secure grants, and orchestrate fundraisers with precision and dedication.

Beyond her professional commitments, Hayley is deeply committed to giving back. She volunteers her time renovating shelters, coaching little league soccer, and participating in fundraisers for the Boys and Girls Club of Atlanta. Hayley finds inspiration in the performing and visual arts scene of NYC and is continuously expanding her horizon in activities such as hot air ballooning, biking, vintage furniture picking and hiking with her boxer, Gus.

Through the KS Octave Foundation, Hayley’s passion for project management and community development drives impactful initiatives that leave a lasting impression on the communities we serve. As Director of Operations, Hayley provides principal level oversight of all projects and events.

Vince Crawley
Business Consultant

This is Vince’s 52nd year in the Australian Foodservice industry. During this time, he has held executive positions with large multinational and smaller companies and organizations. Vince currently has his own management consulting company and is the CEO of a national organization.

His passion for baseball goes back many years as a player, coach, and administrator. For a number of years, he has hosted players from the U.S. for the Australian summer season – one of these is KS Octave Director Steve Octave. Vince acts as a business consultant/mentor for the Foundation.

In the Australian summer of 2019/20, Steven Octave came to play baseball and stayed at my home. During that six months, he and I had the opportunity to have some interesting discussions on various topics. He impressed me as a caring and respectful person.

He told me of the dream he and his brother Kedeem had to establish a foundation to help underprivileged youth through baseball. They both have baseball knowledge and skills, and through Kedeem’s links with the St. Louis Cardinals, they also have some wonderful technology to allow them to professionally deliver the technical aspects of the game.

It is however more important to me that they have a deep and genuine desire to improve the life skills and hopes of underprivileged youth. You only need to talk to them to embrace the passion and belief they bring to their dream.

I am happy to help them in any way I can with my business experience and hope to see them grow the Foundation to make a difference not only in their community but across the state and country.”

Judy
Officer

After college, Judy started her working career as a Physical Education teacher. From there she moved to the corporate world before owning and managing her own real estate office for 20 years. Over the years Judy has served on a variety of Boards for professional real estate organizations as well as Boards for non-profit and not-for-profit organizations. She says “I have known Kedeem and Stephen for their entire lives and have watched them grow into young men with a goal and purpose in life. They have translated their goal of creating a mechanism for disadvantaged youth to achieve and excel in life into the K.S. Octave Foundation. Using the sport of baseball, they will create an environment for young people of all backgrounds to stretch and grow and feel a sense of accomplishment. Baseball is the catalyst for them. The goal is scholarships, internships, experiences, and young people qualified and eager to tackle their own dreams with a sense of confidence.”

Felix
Officer

Felix was born on the island of St. Lucia. He moved to America in 1987, after accepting a college scholarship. He soon after met his wife Denise and went on to have three wonderful children Kedeem, Stephen, and Leah.

Felix has worked as a computer administrator since 1997 before transitioning to EMR system  Management in 2017. Felix has always had a passion for problem-solving. Felix’s experience with technology will serve as a vital piece to the success of the foundation.

Denise
Officer

Denise was born in  Kingston, Jamaica, and came to America at age 17 where she would soon meet her now-husband Felix and have three wonderful children Kedeem, Stephen, and Leah. In 2004 Denise launched Denise’s Little Angels Daycare where she has now seen multiple kids go on to complete college from the fundamental building blocks and lessons she helped instill in them. Little Angels Daycare was created from Denise’s passion for kids.  She states It’s a great sense of pride to help young children learn about the world around them through observing and exploring. While also exposing them to things they may not be able to see in their natural environment.

VISION

I’m so proud and excited for Kedeem and Stephen. They’ve found individual success. But remain committed to making a better future for generations to come. I see this foundation going to heights even they can not yet imagine. Supplying internships and opportunities combined with their ability to instill confidence and creativity is a ca n’t-miss pitch!

Barbara
Officer
Barbara was the youngest of an Irish Catholic, a blue-collar family from the Bronx.  Seven years after graduation she achieved what no girl in our family had done; graduated from Hunter College with a BA, got a teacher’s license, and started her first job as a professional. She was an academically tough teacher who understood that respect and kindness were as essential to growth as the ability to think and write a clear sentence.
Barbara is now a retired teacher and a retired massage therapist, so has a unique background knowledge of the brain and body. She states, “For the final exam of one of my massage courses, I had to name every muscle of the body and how it functioned when used to swing a bat at a ball. This makes it really interesting for me to watch Kedeem and Stephen working with kids in a Foundation clinic, adjusting their posture, explaining trajectory. I can also see the effect of a hand on the shoulder, a slight nod, and a thumbs up.”
VISION

The future is changing rapidly, and we have to prepare the kids for coming up.  Learning skills bring confidence and competence, and Kedeem and Stephen are facilitating that.  Their clinic participants may never be star athletes – although they may! – but they are being given opportunities, learning that they have a chance, that they can go toward the future feeling that they have a fair chance to succeed.”

It’s my belief that the K. S. Octave Foundation with continue as it started, with a fair opportunity for young people as the focus, and with enough flexibility to see the best way forward. Everyone will benefit as we step forward into the future on a more level field.
